Hello to all my Ableton loving friends,
It’s Alan here, hopefully you are all well!
This blog post is slightly different from my usual posts, so please read on.
You may have heard of my friend Jason Ward, Ableton trainer extraordinaire and sound engineer. I have linked to his site many times. Well, I was speaking to him and he agreed that it would only be fair that I recieve a small commission if anyone from my site ended up buying any of his courses.
This is great news from ableton-live-tutorial.com’s perspective as this may help with the hosting and running costs involved with the site.
Now, instead of just simply trying to send you over there and get some commission, I decided to make it a little bit more interesting.
I created an effects unit that uses only ableton stock effects. (I use Ableton 8 Suite so the effects unit will only work if you have the same)
If you buy Jason’s “Ultimate Drum Machine Samples Collection” through my link, I will send you the effects unit as a bonus gift from me.
Please watch the video below and you will see what my effects unit does.
I also perform a 10 minute mini mix using 3 channels and nothing else apart from my new effects unit.
Even if you have no interest in Jason’s course, please still watch, as I did a video capture of me performing the mix. I get people asking to SEE what I do and after a lot of messing around with video editing I have managed to do just that.
So here it is, the new video
I hope you enjoyed that, if nothing more, at least you get an idea of one way I use ableton to play out live.
Normally when I play a live set I will incorporate a lot more than just one effects unit per channel but this lets you see how little you actually need to have a whole lot of fun.
Now, on to the offer.

I have not automated the delivery of my effects unit, I will be processing manualy so please bear with me. I don’t know how much interest this will generate.
If you decide that you don’t want the drum pack from Jason, here is a great video showing you how to set things up like he has, and you can add your own drum samples instead. This is a quality video from Jason. Enjoy.
ALSO
Please let me know if having the live video as well as the screen capture helps you. It takes a lot more time and effort to produce these types of video but if they are worth it, I’m happy to put in the extra time.
